About
Alright, I’m Biz (family nickname, long story) and I’ve been bossing people around on film sets since I was 12.
I’m a director who’s dabbled in just about every genre—bit of this, bit of that—but if there’s a common thread, it’s high energy, playfulness, and a sharp bit of dry wit. That said, (what director want’s to be put in a box) I can slap on the serious hat when needed—I’ve tackled heart-wrenching charity projects, made films for banks (less heart-wrenching), and I’m currently co-directing a feature doc on antidepressants.
Way back I kicked off the in-house production department at BMB (highlights include smashing out TV ads for Hula Hoops). Since going freelance, I’ve worked with some of the biggest dogs in advertising—Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, Fallon, Oliver, M&C Saatchi—I’ve shot for Apple, Samsung, New Balance, Standard Chartered, and McDonald’s (the nuggets at HQ? Unreal).
I also co-created the Alan Schaller YouTube channel with my mate Alan Schaller—the absolute don of street photography—going from 0 to 75,000 subscribers (and growing) in a year.
Once upon a time, I went to the Slade School of Fine Art, got my hands dirty as a runner on a Danny Boyle film, then ended up editing Jaguar launch films at Pinewood Studios (not the latest one, before you ask).
I can self-shoot, have a ton of my own fancy cinema-grade kit, but I’m just as comfortable standing at a monitor with a coffee in hand, calling the shots. Oh, and I edit most of my stuff—why let some numpty take the glory?
I’ve directed a few short films, including one starring Adjoa Andoh from Bridgerton and produced by ad maestro turned movie producer Trevor Beattie, which went global and won a bunch of awards.
Drop me a line—I’m all ears. Except my left one, which is 1dB worse than my right.
Fun fact: I was once a Special Advisor to the Chancellor, complete with an office right over the No. 11 Downing Street door—one creaky floorboard away from running the country. Highlights included making the Treasury’s most-watched film ever (box office stuff), and going straight through security at Heathrow with the Chancellors body guards, without anyone checking my bags (missed opportunity).
P.s. if anyone finds my old Downing Street passcard, let me know.
